Team Diabetes Online Auction

An online auction was held over the month of September in conjunction with RealAuction. A variety of items such as gift baskets, spa passes, and squash racquets were auctioned off to the highest bidder giving a combined total of $1987.01 raised for the Canadian Diabetes Association!

4th Annual Northern Communications BBQ

Northern Communications held a staff BBQ in support of team diabetes complete with "Challenge a coworker to a putting match" and a popcorn machine (yum). The GPS tracking system raffle went to Jocelyn (after she picked her own name out of the bag!). A huge thank you to Sandra for organizing and executing everything....again :)

Shoot for the Cure

Dooly's Billiards and Pub, in Sudbury ON, hosted this event. Tickets cost $10 per person in exchange for unlimited pool all evening. Two 50/50 draws were held; both won by the same very lucky person! The event was a great success raising $1171.15! Thank you very much to Manager Nathan Poisson and the staff at Dooly's. A special mention goes out to Nathan Misouri for selling tickets and organizing a friendly doubles tournament and to the Laurentian University SGA and GSA for organizing tournament and door prizes.

Dunk Tank!

Northern Communications, in Sudbury ON, held a end of summer party for their staff complete with a Dunk Tank and cream pie in the face! This event was reported on CBC radio and in print in the community newspaper South Side Story. A shout out to Mike Shantz who braved the dunk tank in a full suit. Overall everyone had a great time and raised over $300.00 for Team Diabetes!!

3rd Annual Northern Communications BBQ

Northern Communications, in Sudbury ON, in their continued support of the Canadian Diabetes Associtation held a charity bbq for their staff. It was an absolutely beautiful day. 'Head chef' Mike even flagged down some passersby to join in the fun.

Almost $400 was raised at this event!

Stand Up for Charity

Thank you to Absolute Comedy, in Ottawa ON, for another wonderful fundraising event! A perfect kick-off to my 2007 campaign. I pre-sold 50 tickets in advance generating $300 for the Canadian Diabetes Association. A 50-50 draw, wristband sales and small change boxes added another $127.92.

Altogether I raised $427.92 and had a great time doing it!

Dine for Diabetes

Thank you to Theo's Greek Taverna, in Ottawa ON, for hosting a dinner in support of the Canadian Diabetes Association. I jumped on the bandwagon so to speak a week before the event by invitation of fellow Team Diabetes member Amanda Swim. For a last minute event, raising approximately $250 wasn't too shabby. A special mention to Peter; a Team Diabetes particpant from Fredricton who showed up unexpectedly to offer support and a financial contribution. Peter and I had been following each other's fundraising and training blogs.

Whiskey Bar Pub Night

Thank you to Whiskey Bar Downtown Ottawa for helping us host a pub night which raised approximately $300 with the help of a small silent auction. The highest auctioned item was a massive pile of boxed chocolate. Not too many people came out for this event due to weather, but the staff were fantastic!

 

Comedy Night for Diabetes

A gigantic thank you goes out to Jeff and Jason at Absolute Comedy (Ottawa ON) for hosting my very first event for Team Diabetes. Approximately 75 people came out for a great night raising approximately $500! A special mention to Kathy Sadler who came out in full Team Diabetes gear to offer her support. I really appreciated it. I definately learnt a lot executing my first event!
